The God in my heart can not be contained

September 24, 2015
The world today has rejected the truth of a transcendent God- a God that is bigger than and outside of creation. While rejecting a God who is over all, the tolerant world of today is alright with an imminent God- a God who is personal and intimate. To modern thinking, God is dead in the world at large. If He is alive in a believer’s heart, that is acceptable as long as God’s influence stays personal and private. The problem is that God is still transcendent despite the world’s insistence otherwise. The Bible is replete with passages that declare His greatness over all. He is “One God and Father of all, who is above all.” (Ephesians 4:6) The Psalmist says in Psalm 148:13, “His name alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heaven.” 1 Chronicles 29:11 gives a powerful description of God’s greatness over all, “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.”
Because God is transcendent, He does not just hold sway inside the confines of the heart, the home or the church. He rules all and rightly demands to be the supreme and entire object of ones affection. Though God is a personal God who dwells within every believer His intimacy with man cannot be viewed apart from His supremacy over creation. The God who resides in your heart rules over all things. The transcendent nature of God does not sit well in America; it hasn’t for many years. The transcendent nature of God does not sit well with many Christians.
God in His transcendence affects all things. No area of life or thought is outside His realm, notice or direction. The Christian must realize that God has something to say about homosexuality, abortion, politics, national tragedy, war, poverty, sickness. work, family, recreation and entertainment. The Christian must realize that God speaks to all subjects. Because he loves God the Christian will  strive to match his life and voice to that which God has said. The right application of a personal relationship with God is a life entirely submitted to Him. He not only resides in the heart, He rules over the whole being. A Christian who truly loves Him will not have a divided life filled with God times and world times or God behavior and world behavior. A Christian who truly loves Him will love Him at all times and live accordingly in all places. It is impossible for a faithful Christian to cower behind the safe walls of his sanctuaries. Christians cannot keep a smiling silence about the gospel. They must go into the world speaking God’s words, words that transcend all cultures and seasons.
God’s not dead. He resides within my heart, He inhabits every corner of the universe, He exists in the unimaginable corridors of eternal infinitude and He reigns supreme over all. He rules my heart and He rules all creation. God is deeply personal and fantastically paramount. This personal king demands His servants declare Him in every part of insubordinate creation.
